When we bought the house, it already had an oven. However, we loved the stainless design of LG that we had in our last house. So, we took it and moved it with us to our new home.
Keeping it clean always not easy. Cleaning it with any toxic products is not easy either. So, I use a home-made oven cleaner that is safe for stainless appliances.
Here’s are the things that work for me when cleaning my oven
1/4 cup of Baking Soda
1/2 cup of Distilled Vinegar
5 drops of Dawn Dishwasher
Lemon Juice (optional)
1. Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar slowly. Take note of the reaction after you pour white vinegar.
2. Add 5 drops of Dawn.
3. Add a lemon for scent (optional)
4. Place the mixture to a spray bottle.
5. You can start spraying the inside of the oven.
TIP : Before I sprayed the inside of the oven, I placed a used towel to protect the floor.
Cleaning the Glass Oven Door
Cleaning the glass Oven door is a little different. I pour on the baking soda to the entire glass oven door then add the white vinegar slowly. Start scrubbing it using a brush or a sponge. Let everything soak for a couple minutes. While waiting for the dirt to soften, I wash the racks. After that, I start scrubbing more on the baked on grime. Eventually, I have to use a piece of steel wool to really get into the dirt as the burned droppings are really stuck. When everything is scrubbed, I take a rag to wipe everything down again.
Cleaning the Stove Top
To clean the stove top, I use the same mixture and spray and wipe everything with it.
TIP: Our burner grates are dishwasher safe so whenever I have space in our dishwasher, I just stick them in.
Finally, it’s done! It took me less then 2 hours for this clean up. For me, a home-made oven cleaner is better than using any other product. Most typical oven Cleaner Products are toxic and are not safe for human health. Additionally, I can’t stand their strong chemical smell.
Every time I look at the things I have done in the kitchen, it makes me realize, as a mom nothing beats a peace of mind and seeing your kitchen as clutter free as possible.
